Phase 4: Interview with Janitor Louis

This video is phase four, which is interviews of my major research project, littering. I was able to get an exclusive with the head of my school's janitorial service Louis. I felt a janitor would be a good person to interview, seeing as how he has to take care of messes made by some kids.
Here are the questions I asked Louis:
1. How long have you been in this job?
Ans: Eight years

2. I know this isn't one of the greatest jobs ever, especially as some kids are not nice, but how does littering affect you as a person, seeing as how you have to clean every mess?
Ans: It doesn't affect him, because he feels it's his job to clean up, but he prefers it also if people would use the trash cans more often.

3. How do you think littering affects the environment?
Ans: It makes our surroundings untidy and very filthy.

4.Studies by St. Tammany Parish Government show that there are these people who are deliberate litterers; these are the people who litter intentionally. In your view, who are the deliberate litterers?
Ans: Everybody is; kids, adults.

5. What do you do outside of school to prevent litter in the environment?
Ans: He tells his family to use the trashcans always, and to always clean up after themselves.

This has got to Stop

Hypothesis

Why do we tend to litter even with the many trash cans at our disposal? How is littering affecting our environment and us?  Why people litter, is a complicated question, with no easy answer. Research by "Cincinnati is Beautiful," a campaign launched to prevent litter showed that some of us who litter, often have no sense of ownership. Meaning that, we say "this is not ours, so we might as well destroy it."  Another reason why people litter is the belief that "someone will pick it up for me." Some people even use the excuse that they are creating jobs for the people who clean, a statement which is rather harsh and selfish. We should know that, destroying our surroundings is no joke. Not all of us want to live in a world of filth. We must all try our hardest to stop littering.

Littering: Our Worst Nightmare

Littering as we all know, is leaving rubbish or a number of objects lying about untidily. Leaving things about our environment, can and will affect the environment and even us. To make our surroundings look like the ideal utopias we often dream off, or even like the one shown here, we have to get down and start recycling and using    bins at our disposal. After all, cleanliness is next to godliness, isn't it?.
